Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) regards suicide intervention in the same way people view basic first aid. Just as there are known skills that make physical first aid possible, training in suicide intervention develops the skills used in suicide first aid. The aim of ASIST suicide first aid is safety-for-now. The two-day ASIST workshop is by far the most widely used, acclaimed and researched suicide intervention skills training in the world. It has been refined since 1983 with feedback from over one million participants, who have reported a 99% approval rate for the training they have received.

Partners Counselling & Education Services is pleased to be Certified by LivingWorks and able to offer this training now. Our staff are Counsellors working in the field every day and are skilled with individual and group work.

This is a Certificate program, delivered to you in a group setting. It is highly interactive, as participants learn to recognize when someone may be at risk of suicide and how to respond in ways that help increase their immediate safety and link them to further help. ASIST aims to enhance caregiver’s abilities to help a person at risk avoid suicide.
